Slitting and rewinding methods
Log Slitting
Log slitting is a precision cutting method designed for bulk rolls of fabric, film, or similar substrates. The roll is mounted securely onto a fixed mandrel, ensuring stability during processing. A high-torque circular blade or bandsaw traverses the roll’s diameter, slicing it into narrower segments with controlled accuracy. This technique is particularly effective for producing uniform widths in dense or layered materials, where the integrity of the roll must be preserved throughout the cut.
Rewind Slitting
Rewind slitting operates on a continuous-feed principle, where the material is unwound, cut, and rewound into smaller rolls. Cutting can be achieved through three primary mechanisms:
- Scoring: Indentation-based cutting for brittle substrates.
- Shearing: A scissor-like action using paired rotary knives for clean, precise edges.
- Razor Slitting: A streamlined approach employing stationary or rotary razor blades positioned at fixed intervals across the web path.
